As early as the last quarter of 2016, movie fans have already been babbling and rambling about how epic the films of 2017 are. Whether it’s for the superhero movies, or the fantasy films; sci-fi sequels or frightening flicks, everyone can’t wait to get their tickets. There is a certain group of movies, however, that will make the nostalgic Titos and Titas of Manila jump for joy. Here are the 90’s Revival Films of 2017:
1. Beauty and the Beast
Unless you’ve been living under a rock that’s 20,000 leagues under the sea, you’ve probably heard that Disney is coming up with a live-action version of their 1991 animated classic fairy tale film. With Emma Watson playing Belle, the much awaited star-studded revival has had 90s kids hairs on end in excitement since the teaser trailer first came into the light.

2. Flatliners
This is the sequel to the 1990 psychological thriller that sparked the rise to fame of such stars as Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, and Keifer Sutherland, who reprises his role as Dr. Nelson Wright. This group of medical mischiefs is just as glittery, with Ellen Page and Diego Luna leading the class.
3. Baywatch
#TitosOfManila are definitely going all out for the series that bannered their adolescence. The show that saw the likes of David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, and Carmen Elektra give a new meaning to the color red is finally coming to the big screen. The film stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Zac Efron, together with a class of beach-ready youngsters.
4. Power Rangers
It’s morphin’ time! Though there have been previous Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers films over the years, this movie promises to be something of a re-imagining of the 1990s Television Series, with a much more serious feel. Plus, with names like Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks, and Bill Hader signed on, this does sound serious.
5. Jumanji
Set worlds apart from the previous board game-inspired movie, the sequel stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart. Playing alternate fantasy versions of themselves, they have to find a way to get through the game (much like what most of us felt going through last year, but hey, we survived!).
