Nintendo Gets Fans Fired Up at E3 2017
Gamers have just been bombarded with a plethora of new games to look forward to. It’s all thanks to one of the biggest annual gaming events, E3 2017. Nintendo did not disappoint their fans as they unveiled multiple titles that are heading to the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS. Let’s take a look at the different games that the Big N announced during their Nintendo Spotlight which has had their fans hyped up, claiming that the company has won E3.
THE SWITCH EFFECT
There’s no denying that the Nintendo Switch has been well received by the gaming community as a whole. This hybrid console which allows you to game anytime and anywhere and is a colossal success when compared to Nintendo’s previous home console. It basically plays into the company’s strengths which are fun original IPs which people can play on the go.
When the Switch first released, it was jokingly referred to as a Zelda machine because of the few games present during its launch line up. That all changed thanks to this year’s E3 though. I’m sure that Switch owners are now carefully planning which games to purchase to soften the blow to their wallets.
Let’s talk about the different games that were revealed and has got gamers going crazy for their Switch.
SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY
It wouldn’t be a Nintendo console without their flagship character making an appearance. Yup, It’s-a Me, Mario! Well, it’s him. Just kidding! Anyway, the Italian plumber is making his way to the Switch. This time, not only in order to save the Mushroom Kingdom, but multiple other kingdoms as well.
This new addition to the main Super Mario series is a 3D platformer which takes cues from previous entries like Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Mario Galaxy. The game takes place as Mario travels to different kingdoms on his hat shaped ship named the “Odyssey” in order to stop Bowser from marrying Princess Peach.
While the Odyssey will have most of Mario’s signature moves, the game’s new mechanic is what people are excited for. Mario can throw his hat called “Cappy” which allows him to possess various NPCs like Goombas, vehicles and even a freaking T-Rex! There’s no doubt that Mario’s new adventure will be an exciting one.
Nintendo has been home to the very popular Xenoblade Chronicles series by Monolith Soft. This open world JRPG is mostly praised for its combat system and expansive worlds. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will give players a chance to take control of a new main character as he searches the world for “Elysium”.
If there’s anything to expect from this game, it would be the scope of the world you get to play. Previous entries had worlds which had beautiful and immersive sceneries. So if you’re into games with awesome combat, you should definitely have Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in your arsenal.
FIRE EMBLEM WARRIORS
The story of the game begins when the county of Aytolis is covered in darkness. Monsters started invading after the Gates of the Other World suddenly appeared at castle. As the battle rages, Prince Rowan and Princess Lianna escape with the Fire Shield and confront the powerful darkness.
Fire Emblem Warriors is the second Nintendo IP to receive the Koei Tecmo Warriors treatment. It allows players to see popular heroes from the beloved strategy RPG in action packed and wide-scale battles. The first hero that we got to see confirmed in game was Chrom from Fire Emblem Awakening, but now have seen other heroes like Marth, Ryoma, Corrin, and Xander.
HIGHLIGHTING MAJOR REVEALS
The previous three games are titles that have been previously announced. While these games do bring much excitement to Switch owners, E3 is all about big reveals. So let’s talk about the different games that were revealed during the Nintendo Spotlight.
Fans have been praying for Metroid to make its return with a brand new game. Nintendo has answered their prayers and showed that they do listen to their supporters. Metroid Prime 4 was revealed to be in development for the Nintendo Switch while the Nintendo 3DS will be receiving Metroid: Samus Returns. That’s two games where fans get to play as Samus Aran, the female intergalactic bounty hunter!
She’s not the only platforming hero to make a return. Yoshi and Kirby are also jumping their way into the Switch!
Another reveal that was well received, was when Tsunekazu Ishihara (CEO of The Pokemon Company) announced that they are developing a new core Pokemon Game for the Switch. This would be the first mainline entry of the franchise into a home console! What kind of Pokemon game will we get to experience? I’m going crazy just imagining it!
So Eventurers, there you have it! A refresher course on everything that happened on the Nintendo Spotlight at E3 2017! Nintendo this year is the best example of how much praise a company can get once it listens to its fans. Pokemon, Mario, Metroid, and many more are heading our way! Thanks for a great E3 Nintendo!
