Sony Impresses with E3 2017 Line-up
With the PS4 being the best-selling console from 2014 – 2016, there’s no doubt that many gamers were excited for Sony’s E3 2017 press conference. It’s no exaggeration when I say that the company were able to keep everyone watching hyped for all the titles that were revealed during the event. Here are the best games shown during their presentation.
GOD OF WAR
Kratos will return as the main protagonist, but he is now joined by his son Atreus in this new adventure. Kratos takes the roles of guardian and mentor to Arteus and must master the rage which he has lived with through the years.
The first thing that many will notice in the new God of War games is how the gameplay is immensely different from previous titles. Santa Monica has rebuilt the game from the ground up in order to achieve this new style. When watching the trailer, the closest game that came to mind was Skyrim. The game will now have a few role playing game elements like knowledge points which can be used to increase Kratos’ many skills.
God of War is set to release on the first quarter of 2018.
DAYS GONE
a
This year’s E3 allowed gamers to take a closer look Days Gone. The title is an upcoming open world survival horror game developed by SIE Band. The game is set in the world two years after a devastating global pandemic. Players take control of Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter struggling to survive and looking for a reason to live.
The game tells a tale about survivors and the different experiences they have which make them human. Never letting tragedy take over as they continue to find reasons to continue living.
Days Gone boasts a very expansive and open world which can be completely explored on Deacon’s Drifter Bike. If you see something, you can explore and interact with it. The game is also a great example of free-form gameplay which allows players to tackle each obstacle their own way. Developers have mentioned that there is almost an infinite-number of ways a task can be completed.
People may be slowly turning away from the post-apocalyptic survival genre, but Days Gone looks like a game that will drag them right back into the action.
MARVEL’S SPIDER-MAN
Was there actually any doubt that Sony wouldn’t show off their upcoming Spider-man video game? This exclusive title is certainly gorgeous to look at. By the looks of the trailer, Insomniac Games combined Spider-Man 2 on the PS2 with the battle system of Rocksteady’s Arkham series. Spider-man 2 is still considered by many web-heads as the best video game that the Spider-Man is featured in. Combining the two elements ensures an experience which will surely satisfy any gamer who is a fan of Marvel’s most recognized hero.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
When you have masterpieces like Uncharted 4 and Horizon: Zero Dawn in your line up, you wouldn’t want the love for them to die down. During E3 sony has announced DLC expansions for both games.
Uncharted: Lost Legacy is added content which will feature Chloe and Nadine and brings Uncharted back to its roots. Naughty Dog has stated that they wanted to bring back the more fantastical feel that the series had.
Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Winds will feature a new region filled with snow and robot dinosaurs. Putting players back into the shoes of Aloy in a story-based expansion to the well-received franchise.
Other announcements to take note of are Shadow of Colossus for Playstation 4 and Marvel VS Capcom Infinite.
Are you part of the Sony Hype Train Eventurers? Sony’s E3 press conference truly builds up anticipation for this year and the next. There were some games that weren’t shown though like “The Last Us 2” and “Red Dead 2”, but they did leave us with a lot of other games to be excited for. Thank you for the awesome E3 Sony!
