Logan is finally out in cinemas! The first thing you need to know about the film Logan is that it is the last Wolverine film. Hugh Jackman has clearly stated that this will be his last run as the feral X-Men. You also need to know that the story was patterned after the “Old Man Logan” series in the Marvel Comics. We have the event preview for you up ahead!

LOGAN IS SET IN THE FUTURE
1. NO MORE MUTANTS
The films will take place in a not-so-distant future where mutants almost no longer exist. The X-Men are gone, mutants are scarce and scattered, and there are almost no heroes around. This is also the premise of the “Old Man Logan” arc in the Marvel Comics. We will probably see lots of parallels in that world and in the film.
2. LOGAN IS OLD
It’s also clear that Logan has aged quite a bit. Professor X also! The future has not been kind to our Wolverine, he may be unkillable, but he is not immortal. He is seen in the clips and posters as older, a bit ragged, and weary. Age does catch up to Logan after all.
3. A LITTLE GIRL AS A WOLVERINE CLONE?
Comic fans may know here as Laura, the X-23, a clone of Wolverine. But in the film she is a strange young girl who crosses paths with our favorite mutant. X-23 may be currently an X-Man in the comics, but here she appears as a frightened little girl in need of the guidance of a wiser, older, Wolverine.
4. A DARKER SUPERHERO FILM
The tone was dark and gritty. The film stayed away from the cute comic banter and remained true to the depth and weight of the Old Man Logan timeline. Like in The Wolverine, Hugh Jackman’s Logan was an escapist. Bitter and angry, Logan was resigned to live his days in solitude while being continually haunted by his past. Enter Charles Xavier, who pushes him yet again to fight for the good. Add in Laura (X-23!), and you’ve got Logan slowly becoming a father figure who resurfaces to ally himself on the side of mutants. All masterfully done by the actors. Logan brings us a more weighty, and emotionally-driven superhero film. There are no flying robots to smash or demons from dimensions to defeat. But there are deep issues to resolve and personal conflicts to overcome. In a sense this may be the truest superhero film we will see so far. Where the film is not about a man being a hero, but the revelation that the hero is just a man.
