Hype for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is reaching a fever pitch, with the international movie premiere right around the corner, people are looking for their dose of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. Luckily Telltale Games has released their take on the Marvel franchise just in time for your dose of the Guardians.
The game is fashioned in the very popular Telltale Games formula and is an episodic adventure featuring our favorite band of unlikely heroes. The first episode of “Guardians of the Galaxy: A Telltale Series” has been released this April 18, 2017 and is titled “Tangled Up in Blue”. The four other episodes are scheduled to be released this year.
The story starts off with the Guardians receiving a distress call from the Nova Corps. They head over to a nearby Kree planet to assist the Nova Corps against the mad Titan, Thanos. The story seems to be centered around the ancient artifact called the Eternity Forge which Thanos has obtained.
Just like the previous games Telltale has released, Guardians of the Galaxy: A Telltale series will let us dawn the mantle of each of the Guardians – by the way we have our own version of that too! This formula allows multiple branches of a single story and gives us multiple endings in a single game.
Telltale Games has been made popular by its take on multiple pop-culture franchises, most notably the company has released games for “The Walking Dead”, “Game of Thrones”, “Borderlands”, and “Batman”.
They treat their games like television shows. Each release they do is a “season” and the games even have recaps like we see on our favorite shows. This keeps the players on the edge of their seats and eagerly awaiting the release of the next “episode”.
