Men and video games. A combination that will go on for hundreds of years in the future. It is almost impossible to separate a boy (even a man) from his video game controller or mouse once he has his sights set on a game. He can play for hours on end without stopping. Because there are many dragons or robots and aliens to fight before the day is done.
And here comes video RPGs! Role-playing games are sometimes called the ultimate video game experience. In these games, you start off as a fledgling character. Small, weak, and with no weapons. And in front of you is a vast open world where anything is possible.
There is also a deep and highly-complicated story that goes on all throughout the game. You may have been separated from your family and you seek reunification. A dark terror has emerged and you are the only chose one to stop it. The world is on the brink of extinction and you are the only hope.
There are many plot threads and choices to be made in an RPG. Essentially, you play an ENTIRE person. You choose what to eat, what to buy, which spells to master, which allies to make, and even how you look like!
And because of all these aspects, vide game RPGs take a looooong time to finish. Imagine starting the game as a young boy and defeating the last evil boss as a grown man! Players clock in over a hundred hours of playing time on an average RPG. And that is not even counting completing all the many side-quests, getting all the rare weapons, and all that. Nothing quite beats the experience of finishing a video game RPG with a high-level character, with all the best weapons and armor. Players would get excited to start over again as new areas and quests are unlocked once you finish the game. Players would do it all over again!
Except of course, if time is running out. Priorities change over time as we get older. Especially if one is getting married!
Like me! In a few months I will be getting hitched. Getting married and starting new lives as a couple is surely exciting! But I am also sure that my video game time will also be limited! Instead of hunting dragons, I would be piling up the laundry! Instead of wielding swords, I will be holding vegetables in the grocery store! Things will surely change! So before all this happens, checkout my list of 7 Video Game RPGs you should play before you get hitched!
