From the get-go, it was clear that the seminar was going to deliver as advertised. The collaboration between Freelance Blend, Raket.ph, and Manila Workshops looked to bring Raket Remedies to freelancers, focusing on emerging trends and techniques in social media to help even the odds in the cutthroat game of marketing.
Mostly solopreneurs and marketers of small enterprises, the audience was eager to learn the tricks of the trade from Freelance Blend founder Marv de Leon. Throughout the half-day session, we were treated to an afternoon of the latest social media trends that involved video content. As marketing has shifted from traditional to digital, efforts and campaigns have also focused less on hard sell or direct promotion of product offerings or services, and have started to take a more human, a more natural approach: telling stories.
Citing his own personal and professional experience, especially in dealing with his own brand Freelance Blend, Marv de Leon provided the attendees with practical applications for short video content programs. He showed us the beginnings of the live video feed with Periscope, and then piqued our interest further with the fast-rising Snapchat. As he detailed Zuckerberg’s answer to those with Facebook Live and Instagram Stories, he also began to talk about the ever-changing social media landscape, as well as the introduction of its two newest players – Twitter Live and Facebook Messenger Day.
All-in-all, Raket Remedies: Emerging Social Media for Marketers Workshop offered a very personal approach to marketing, which would definitely benefit solopreneurs or small and medium business owners.
