Meet Rithe! A Singaporean teen that paved her way into the world of cosplaying!
Twitter
Holding the name Ritheania, that was wordplayed by her friends from her English name Rita, however she soon shortened into Rithe. This girl started doing cosplay just out of curiosity when she heard to her friends about the existence of cosplay conventions. She then went to a certain cosplaying event in her “normal form” and saw the cosplayers are having fun so she tried it out herself.
Her curiosity of trying it out lead Rithe to the heart of doing cosplay after that.
Now, her Facebook page already reached about 24,000 followers and counting. While her Instagram has around 6,000 followers now. Her Twitter account is also used to post some of her cosplay wardrobe that she DIY-ed. Yes, she made most of costumes herself! From measuring and sewing those heavy costumes. Down to painting those armors that she’s using whenever she goes to cosplay events. Isn’t that amazing?
Several of her cosplays were also posted on her social media accounts that gains attention from the certified otakus worldwide. Otaku, or how the anime fans are well recognized, seems to have fun scrolling through her fanpage. Rithe is really a well-loved cosplayer, seeing how her fans leave comments on her posts. Well, what’s not to love on her contents? Plus, she communicates well to other people from the rest of the world through her accounts. She’s approachable and accommodating as she tries to interact with her fans on her social media accounts, especially when it comes in doing cosplays.
Her prowess as a cosplayer
Rithe has a lot of character costumes that she have done. And it’s not surprising that she can easily pull them off. Ranging from several of animes that she’s been cosing, she seems like an expert in that field!
Out of all the anime productions out there, her favourite is the Fate series that everyone can see how she loves cosing different characters from the series.
It’s not surprising that some otakus would acknowledge Rithe as Saber of Singapore, too. There she goes with cosplaying Scathach, Lancer, Rider, Jeanne of Arc, or Okita Souji. The range of versions of Saber, Rithe got that!
She also have that certain day that she calls ‘Saber Sunday’, posting a photo of her, cosplaying a character to update her followers about the Saber madness she is in. People would always love to see how she would pull of another version of Saber.
Rithe’s love for Fate Series
Rithe stated that she loves to cosplay Arturia Pendragon, or Saber because she likes making her costumes. Also, the character has a lot of costumes to try on and different ways of portraying her. In her love for the character, Rithe said before that if ever she wants to be an anime character, she wanted to be like Saber because she is powerful and independent physically and mentally. Exactly what she needs, she says.
Being a Fate series fanatic and a cosplayer, Rithe dreams to have that cosplay shoot where she can have that shot where all of the Saber faces are all in one photo where they sit on the thrones they belong. Unfortunately, Rithe have no time, space or money to make all the armours and thrones. That would be awesome if that dream of hers will come true!
Here’s to how Rithe put her favourite anime series into her words: It makes you think about life and reflect on yourself.
Getting to know Rithe in Cosplay Carnival 2018
Cosplay Mania and Cosplay.ph hosted the Cosplay Carnaval 2018. It was held at the SMX Convention Center at Mall of Asia, Pasay City last February 24th to 25th. Rithe is the anticipated guest by her fellow otakus and cosplayers. Rithe showed up in her dazzling Violet Evergarden cosplay on the first day. Well, Rithe did show her love for Violet Evergarden on her previous posts of her. Posing adorably, that stunning costume suits her.
Rithe was interviewed about who is her favourite character to cosplay, and she answered without hesitation that she likes doing Saber from the Fate series and its different versions. Well, seems like everybody knows that cosplaying Saber is Rithe’s signature.
But, of course, Rithe also is living a life of being a normal teenager. She’s still living the best out of her life. She goes to school, and is currently majoring Interior Design, and working for her personal stuffs without those wigs and full faced make ups.
When she was asked what her hobbies aside from cosplaying are, she said, “I like walking to parks and look around.” Particularly because she like to find some stuffs that may help her in designing, since that is what she wanted to do. Also is to inspire her in making more design in the future ad how she would improve herself. That one becomes knowledgeable because she designs her outfits and being a designer major, yes? Talented, isn’t she?
Being an SG based cosplayer visiting PH
The girl flew her way from her country to Philippines, Rithe was asked about the cosplay scene in Singapore. Singapore holds cosplay events for those anime fanatics that want to attend. But her cosplaying doesn’t stop on her own country only, as she receives invitations to several cosplay conventions across the globe.
Rithe was also seen having fun and taking some selfies to other Filipino cosplayers who attended the Cosplay Carnival 2018. Filipino cosplayers who were there are happy to see and to have interactions with Rithe because, that happens once in a while.
Rithe gives advice to Filipino Cosplayers
Of course, even though that Rithe is a senior in doing cosplays, she still has an inspiration in doing such. “Everyone who makes cosplay is my inspiration,” look at how Rithe love her fellow cosplayers.
But if there’s someone she may look up to, that is probably Lenneth, because she puts in a lot of effort into every single one of her cosplays and Rithe is really fascinated to see how Lenneth’s cosplay work in progress.
Cosplaying is one of the things that she sees she’ll still be into on the next 10 years, as Rithe thinks that no one can stop her from doing what she loves, and that is cosplaying.
Rithe, being a senpai to the scene, gave some of her thoughts and advices about cosplay. “Be confident, take more photos, continue.” she said. One can’t be a good cosplayer if she’s not confident enough, Rithe is right.
