Suicide Squad is just around the corner. Pretty soon we will be treated to the super villain movie event of the year. But before we go and enjoy the ragtag group of misfits called the “Suicide Squad”, how about we take time to discover its villain centerpiece.
THERE IS NO BATMAN IF THERE IS NO JOKER
The Caped Crusader has always been at odds with the Crown Prince of Crime. Theirs is an eternal struggle of good versus evil. But what made the Joker this way? We know of Bruce Wayne and the murder of his parents that triggered his zeal for justice. But there isn’t a lot of we know about the man the entire world knows as “The Joker.” Let’s try and take a look at what makes the Joker such an impressive character that has become an international and historic icon.
Memories can be vile, repulsive little brutes. Like children I suppose. But can we live without them? Memories are what our reason is based upon. If we can’t face them, we deny reason itself!
Although, why not? We aren’t contractually tied down to rationality! There is no sanity clause! So when you find yourself locked onto an unpleasant train of thought, heading for the places in your past where the screaming is unbearable, remember there’s always madness. Madness is the emergency exit. You can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened. You can lock them away…forever.
THE JOKER’S TRAGIC PAST
As with many criminals, the Joker is a victim of a tragic past. This has led to a spiral of moral and social behaviour. Paired with his uncanny genius and cleverness, this makes the Joker a very dangerous adversary. His demeanour and his character is so wildly expressive that he stands out among the throng of villains and criminals in fictional history.
