ICATS or the International Cabin Attendant Training School was established in 2009 by Princess Joy Garcia (CEO and Co-Founder), Arthuro de Leon and the late Armie Guiao. They founded ICATS with a mission to meet the demands of the airline service industry by helping Filipino dreamers reach their highest potentials.
Even though they just started with three (3) enrollees, the ICATS team never gave up and faced the challenges head-on. It was just in 2014 when their enrollees increased that they have to transfer to a bigger venue with more classrooms. They are now located at 907-A East Tower, Philippine Stock Exchange Center, Exchange Road, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

Not to brag but ICATS developed a “curriculum based on the standards set by international flight attendant schools.” Their five-module training includes Personality Development, Aircraft Familiarization, Emergency Situation and Procedures and On Board Services and Interview Essentials. They also have hands-on training by competitive instructors who have experiences flying with major and prominent international airlines.
For their 7th year, ICATS is proud to present that they has already provided the airline industry with “more than 200 highly-trained graduates who now hold vital positions in local and international commercial airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Oman Air, Fly Nas, Saudi Arabian Airlines Air Asia and others.”
“ICATS believes that its success is the fruit of a team that works together with one mission, passion and vision. Every member has an integral role in the organization. Its people, who are experts in their own fields, are the wings behind ICATS’ success. The expansion emboldened the country’s top flight attendant school to not only hire more people but also to serve more students in the hope that ICATS can change their lives for the betterment of their families,” shared by the CEO and Co-Founder Princess Joy Garcia in their press release.

One of the perks of being a flight attendant is traveling around the world and your dream destinations. Mr. Dasovich, a renowned travel blogger, shared that one of the beauties of traveling is you get to experience different culture and you always learn things about the place you’re visiting. If you’re really passionate about traveling but do not have the means to, try considering a job in the airline industry.

Panelists gave their tips and advises for the aspiring flight attendants and encourage them to choose one of the leading training schools in the country. “We are actually nine (9) in the market, as far as we know, but what sets us apart is that we are passionately educating. By passionately it means that we train them not just for money but we train them from our heart,” Ms. Diaz shared during the question and answer portion.
1. Have humility to really learn more.
One good advises that the panelists shared during the press conference is having humility to learn more. Most dream jobs require much determination, passion and commitment. By having the courage to strengthen your understanding about your dream job makes you unbeatable. Also sometimes, to be able to land in your wished opportunity you really have to undergo some trainings and/or seminars to evaluate if that position suits you well.
2. Have faith in yourself and trust God.
Another advice they gave is that you have to trust God’s plan for you and believe that you are or you will be capable of the requirements your position needed. People who seek the help of a training school (in any industry) are the bravest because they are willing to admit to themselves that what they already knew needs improvement. They believe that they still have a room for the latest trends in their industry.
3. Have hardwork to pursue your dreams.
In any industry, being good is not just the norm but also being hardworking counts. To land in a position in an airline industry, one must possess both qualities—they have to be good in what they do and they have to be hardworking.
Ms. Garcia also shared what motivates her to set-up a training school. “I have never imagined myself having a business since I was a kid. It was just in 2009 during the Ondoy when I and Ms. Armie was trapped in the second floor of my house that I told her that I don’t know what to do after I had to force resigned in a local airline company. She then suggested that why not I open a training school for flight attendants that that desire actually became a dream and I work towards setting it up with them.”
At the end of the day, those three above mentioned advises are the keys to achieve your dream job. And if you really wants to be a flight attendant but don’t know how to start, seek an advice with ICATS. While you’re younger, maintain your good skin, work on your height and strengthen yourself. That’s just few of the requirements of the airline companies! *wink*

ICATS members also said that they actually have pre-qualifying assessments for those who would like to train with them to be a flight attendant. “We always make sure that our trainees are at par of the requirements of the airlines,” Mr. de Leon reiterates.
