Beauty and The Beast Makes Millions in Opening Weekend
Have you seen the latest Disney remake of Beauty & The Beast yet? You should be our guest then! Emma Watson and the rest of the cast of the magical movie made movie magic at the box-office as well! With an initial report of $150 million dollars on its opening weekend, and now up to $460 million, Beauty & The Beast is certainly a hit at the movies!
What worked for the Film?
Emma Watson as Belle
Disney has always been a pro when it comes to choosing actors and casting characters. Be it in the realm of Marvel Studios or Star Wars, Disney has played it wonderfully in casting roles. And the entire world could not have had a better actress play the lead role of Belle than the wonderful Emma Watson. She was beautiful, much like her namesake ‘Belle’ in the film. She was kind, charming, fierce, and showed us that a Disney princess can take control of her destiny. Now there will be no other person who can be known as Belle other than Emma Watson.
Lumiere and The Enchanted Characters
Did you know that Ewan Macgregor played the candlestick Lumiere? If you didn’t know, Ewan also played lead roles in Moulin Rouge and Star Wars (he was Obi-Wan!) Lumiere and Cogsworth (Sir Ian Mckellen a.k.a. Gandalf and Magneto) brought life and wit into the film, while the other characters provided a magical cast the danced and sang their way into our hearts. It was all just wonderfully done. Magnificent CGI effects and masterful voice acting created characters that will forever be loved and remembered.
The Songs oh The Songs!
I bet you were all singing along during the songs of the film! Belle’s opening line “Little Town…” was charming, Lumiere’s “Be Our Guest” was a spectacle, and Gaston and Lefou’s musical number was full of fun and laughter! Even the Beast himself had a solo moment with his new song “Evermore” during one of the film’s more melancholy scenes. No classic Disney movie can be complete without its songs, and we are all grateful that Disney chose to stick to its winning strategy. We can only hope it continues with this trend with its other projects like Aladdin and Lion King rumored to be remade. Just imaging singing along to “A Whole New World” and “Can’t Wait To Be King” in the new films that can come out! Now those are throwback songs worth playing over and over again!
So, excited to watch yet? Beauty & The Beast is a classic tale that can still be told over and over again. I remember as a kid watching the original animated version and feeling overwhelmed by the story and the songs and the scenes. And now more than 10 years later, I felt like a kid again as I saw familiar scenes brought to life in a new and amazing way. Of course the movie was as success! And the box-office count is still coming in and we may see it reach of up to $500 million soon enough! Congratulations to the team behind Beauty & The Beast!
