“CHIP HAPPENS” is the tag line of the upcoming American buddy cop comedy blockbuster film written and directed by Dax Shepard and people certainly didn’t know that a reboot of CHiPs was actually happening. The film starring Dax Shepard and Michael Peña are sure to get you laughing off of your seats on March 24.
It’s a Reboot?
“CHiPs” actually stands for California Highway Patrol which was an American television light drama which followed the lives of two California Higway Patrol officers. The original series aired during 1977 – 1983 on the NBC.
Dax Shepard takes the premise of the original series and reimagines it for modern audiences. He actually transforms the franchise into an action boddy cop comedy! That’s right, from light drama to action comedy!
What Is It About?
The movie tells us the story of Officer Jon Baker (Shepard) and Officer Frank “Ponch” Poncherello (Peña) as they join the California Highway Patrol. The two middle aged officers first deal with routine jobs, but soon are pushed into a situation that they never experienced before. An ex-cop and his band of moter vehicle hitman begin to wreak havoc around the city and it’s up to our unlikely duo of heroes to stop them.

The two lead actors of this film are known for their comedic prowess on and off screen. Many remember Michael Peña for his supporting roles in Ant-Man and The Last Martian, where he made the audience laugh with witty jokes and antics. Dax Shepard is best known for his improve comedy at Punk’d and other comedic roles in movies like Zathura and Hit and Run. With both of them together audiences will surely keep laughing.
