Disney’s Live-Action Lion King is Getting Its Cast!
Lion King! This Disney animated classic is well-loved by millions over the years. Do you remember the first time you saw it all those years ago? I myself remember crying as little Simba tugged the ears of Mufasa as he was lying on the ground, his life stolen was by the evil Uncle Scar. Since then The Lion King has embedded itself in the hearts of millions around the world. The success of the animated film transcribed to a stage musicale with the same name. Of course it was also a massive success, with shows in Broadway, The West End, and countless other theaters around the globe. This year the live-action remake of Beauty and The Beast hit the theaters, and the reception was astounding. This paved the way for Disney’s newest live-action remake…The Lion King!
Donald Glover as Simba
Do you remember that cocky engineer who discovered a way to bring Matt Damon back to Earth in The Martian? That is Donald Glover! He is an actor and also the son of Lethal Weapon veteran Danny Glover! And yep, he is playing the lead role of Simba in the latest live-action remake of Disney…The Lion King!
James Earl Jones is still Mufasa!
Did you know that this highly-respected and seasoned actor is also the voice of Darth Vader? Yep he is! And he also played the voice of the original Mufasa! We are all blessed that he’ll be back in action as the original Lion King!
Beyonce as Nala
Talks are happening to cast the Queen Bee Beyonce as the voice of Nala! As usual this is an amazing casting choice from Disney and we all hope it pans out! Now if they can only sneak in a new song number from Nala like the way they added a new solo for The Beast in Beauty and The Beast, that will be perfect!
Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner as Timon and Pumbaa
These two funny guys are known for their wacky films and silly street antics on reality TV. Again this is a massively awesome casting choice and we can expect an even funnier and livelier Hakuna Matata with these guys this time around!
The first time we heard that there was going to be a Beauty and The Beast live-action remake, many were skeptical. There is such a powerful memory surrounding the original animated film that we dare not tarnish with a possibly catastrophic take on a classic. But Emma Watson and the rest of the cast and the production happily proved our negative doubts wring when it was such a wonderfully crafted film! And now with more Disney classics such as Lion King and Mulan in the works, we just can’t wait to see more of our childhood heroes come to life!
