Sana Maulit Muli

This 1995 romantic melodrama film starring actors Aga Muhlach and Lea Salonga is a must-watch this Valentines Day. Why? Because this movie is not only long-distance relationship, but also discusses about self-love, independence, and balancing careers.
The story revolves around a dependent girl named Agnes, portrayed by Lea Salonga, and Jerry Morales, the caring boyfriend working in an Advertising Agency. Problem rises when their long-distance relationship and approval of Jerry’s family puts a strain on the couple which led to their break-up.
You can also expect some major kilig yet heart-wrenching scene from when Jerry hugs Agnes before she leaves for U.S.
Also, Sana Maulit Muli, directed by Olivia Lamasan have amassed a FAMAS Awards, and was nominated for 4, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor & Actress for Lea Salonga and Aga Muhlach. It also received 6 wins at the Gawad Urian Award, including Best Picture and Best Screenplay and was also nominated for 6 categories. The film also won 3 awards and was nominated for 4 at the Luna Awards, which was then known as the FAP Awards.

That Thing Called Tadhana

The ultimate hugot film of 2015 is perfect for those who are trying to move on with their past relationship. This movie is packed with straight to the point experiences about love, pain, and reality.
Angelica Panganiban and JM De Guzman plays the role of Mace and Antony, both which are trying to mend their broken hearts. It started off with Mace’s problem with her excess package then comes Anthony to the rescue. It was then followed by impromptu travel in Sagada, an Eat.Pray.Love kind of experience, and more deep conversation about loving someone and moving on.
This film is directed by Antoinette Jadaone, which also won the Best Narrative award at the Guam International Film Festival.
One More Chance

One might consider One More Chance the best tear-jerking Star Cinema movie of all time. If you could remember Mace (played by Angelica Panganiban in the movie That Thing Called Tadhana” during her plane ride back to Manila, she was watching One More Chance and almost ran out of tissue because of its too much feels.
The story revolves around college sweethearts Popoy (John Lloyd Cruz) and Basha (Bea Alonzo) working for the same firm. After of being years together, Basha starts to feel Popoy to be controlling and frequently makes decisions for both of them. She then decided to break up with him, worked in a new firm and met Derek Ramsay. But what happens when ex-lovers crossed paths? Better what it again to relive the moments.
Lines and scenes from this movie are often used as memes on the internet, which is why you should watch this film over and over again, single or even if you are in a relationship.

Labs Kita Okey Ka Lang

I bet every 90’s kid knows the line very well. This movie revolves around the story of a two childhood friends, Jolina (Bujoy) and Marvin (Ned). Later on in this movie, Bujoy started to have feelings with Ned.
The movie is packed with cute BFF scenarios when the Ned only treats Bujoy as a buddy but the other one started to felt some spark between them. Location of this movie is taken at Baguio which added more feels in it.
What’s interesting though is that Ned started to realize his feeling for her when Bujoy entertained Cenon (Gio Alvarez), newest member of Ned’s band.
Labs Kita Okey Ka Lang movie was released and 1998, and was considered to be one of the best MarLen movies of the 90’s.

Got To Believe

One of the most popular loveteam, Claudine and Rico Yan stars in an amazing romantic comedy film Got To Believe. Some famous lines from the movie was even relived by one of the hottest love team today, Claudine’s niece Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia.
Released in 2002, it has garnered positive reviews from movie critics and fans as well. It can be seen that the throwing of lines between the two are really genuine and no pretenses.
The story is about a woman desperate to find love. She meets Lawrence (Rico Yan), a photographer, who offers her to help find the man of her dreams. Together, they will discover the real meaning of “True Love”.

500 Days of Summer

What’s worse than being in a one-sided love affair, right? Here’s a movie than can be really relatable for those undergoing some unrequited love as well.
The movie feature actors Gordon-Levitt playing Tom Hansen and Zooey Deschanel as Summer Finn. Tom is a trained architect who works as a writer at a greeting card company, while Summer works as an assistant to Tom’s boss and Tom’s love interest.
Director Marc Webb has described the film as more of a “coming of age” story as opposed to a “rom-com”. He stated, “We arrive at a different conclusion, for one thing. Plus, most romantic comedies are more loyal to a formula than to emotional truth.
There are plenty of love lessons you can learn from this movie. Such includes that having common interests with someone doesn’t mean he/she can be your soulmate so don’t expect too much. Best thing you’ll learn from this movie? Being single is not a bad thing at all, and that the true happiness still depends on yourself and how you are going to deal with life.
The film received Best Original Screenplay and Best Screenplay awards at the 14th Satellite Awards and 25th Independent Spirit Awards, respectively, as well as two nominations at the 67th Golden Globe Awards: Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor – Musical or Comedy (Gordon-Levitt).

Probably one of the best romantic film of all time. Titanic has every element that will make any viewers fall in love all over again. It even amassed multiple awards that it will take a whole page to enumerate it. Plus! It’s soundtrack, “ is performed by none other than Celine Dion.
Beautiful yet tragic, this movie tells the tale of an ill-fated love affair between a commoner and an elite. Leonardo Di Caprio (Jack) was an artist who won a poker game and got the chance to head home and ride at Titanic. While on board, he met Kate Winslet (Rose) the damsel in distress who almost committed suicide due to her controlling mother and forced relationship with Cal.
Rose and Jack’s love story began four days before the ship sank. Aside from Leonardo Di Caprio, who is every girls’ dream guy since the 90’s – what made us all love this film is that first -differences always make relationship even more interesting. Secondly, Jack’s character embodies someone creative, motivational, and optimistic – definitely a character of a man, a woman would go head over heels for. Finally, Titanic tells every viewer that love comes at unexpected times. So it’s important to let yourself feel, love, and be loved in return.

Who can even forget this Nicholas Sparks’ masterpiece? A Walk To Remember is a story of love, faith, miracle, and changes. Ready your tissues because no matter how many times you have watched this film, you’ll definitely cry.
There are also lines in the movie taken from the Bible, which was read by Jamie before her last days:

Unlike other hugot films mentioned earlier, lines thrown by Jamie and Landon are sure to strike your heart each time they spend together. Everyone loved how Landon changed in the name of love, and would do everything for make each day count for Jamie.
There was even a scene – although hard for Landon to ask his father a favor – he went into his house and begged him to cure Jamie.
The movie’s soundtrack was also the best part including Switchfoot’s “I Dare You To Move” and “Only Hope”.
