For the biggest names in Hollywood, it’s not really uncommon to bring mum or dad or both to the most prestigious awards night for film as their date. It’s actually their way of thanking their parents for bringing them up and supporting their talents.
So, aside from the dresses that the celebrities wore for the night, let’s also see who among them will bring their parents as their date at the 89th Academy Awards.

It was in 1998 when Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were accompanied by their mothers Christine Anne Boldt and Nancy Carlsson-Paige that this parent-children-date-during-the-awards-night started to become noticeable.
It was the night that their film Good Will Hunting brought them into the stardom, and their mums were seen cheering them in the audience. It was a proud moment. In an interview with news.com.au, Affleck joked that the fact that they brought their mums in the Academy also fuelled rumors about their sexuality.

Another good story of a son bringing her mother at the Academy was Ryan Gosling’s in 2007, wherein he did not only brought his mum Donna Gosling but also his sister Mandi. When interviewed by Entertainment Weekly, Gosling shared how he has to convince Meryl Streep to compliment his mum’s hair because of an incident.
Gosling said that his mum actually has an obsession that time with beehive hairdos, so she convinced him to have one at the Oscars. They were seated in front of Rachel Weisz, and she mentioned that she actually couldn’t see well with his mum’s hair. By that his mum started to feel self-conscious, that’s why he has to find a way to make her feel better.

Also, Emma Stone seemed that she couldn’t avoid the inquisitors by bringing her mother Krista in 2015. She then narrated that they were seated next to past “It” couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and her mother was just asking multiple questions to the couple. She heard her asking if they had kids and what was it like and so on and so forth. And for her, it was quite an experience.
