2. Self-healing after heartbreak.
There’s no love without heartbreak. And while I elevate Shakira to a goddess-like status, Shakira is still but a regular human being who just love and hurt and lose someone dear to her. We can always say and think she dedicates this song to her former flame of 11 years, Antonio de la Rúa, the song speaks to all of us who love and lost that we should forgive ourselves, and to not repeat the mistakes of the past in an upbeat tune. (I might break the repeat button on my playlist because of this.)
“I’m living with a broken heart
Never meant to do you harm
Don’t ever wanna see you cry, again
And everybody hurts sometimes
I never meant to do you wrong
I know you’re gonna be just fine, you said”
On that note, you might also be interested to listen to Déjà Vu, a song that talks about moving on in a soft, gentle, and hushed tones. It’s as if the artists became personal guardian angels who sings this to anyone who needs to hear a wake-up call.
