We all have those childhood out-of-this-world dreams. Lightsabers, spaceships that can jump through space, teleportation, Gundams. In my case, I always wanted Dexter’s dodgeball robot, and OH MY GOD, that dream has become a reality!
A South Korean (yes, Korean! I know right?!) company named Hankook Mirae debuted a life-sized mech last year, and it wasn’t just for show. Here’s a video of that mech:
Designed by Vitaly Bulgarov, a veteran Hollywood SFX designer for science-fiction blockbusters, the mech stands 13-foot tall, weighs 1.5 tons of metal.
“Our robot is the world’s first manned bipedal robot and is built to work in extreme hazardous areas where humans cannot go (unprotected),” said company chairman Yang Jin-Ho. Here’s Vitaly on board his creation:
