Spurs vs Warriors in the Western Conference Finals
Finally we have a Western Conference Finals match-up! After breezing through the competition, The Golden State Warriors will have an opponent…the San Antonio Spurs! While the Warriors had plenty of rest, the Spurs fought through two grueling rounds of playoff basketball. First against the Memphis Grizzlies and then against the Houston Rockets. James Harden proved to be a difficult opponent. But after a frenzied Game 5, the Spurs blew out the Rockets in a massive performance by LaMarcus Aldridge in Game 6…all without starting Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker. The Frenchman guard suffered a leg injury and was declared out for the entire playoffs. And despite just a sprained ankle, Leonard sat out the last game against Houston. But they will need all their weapons against Curry, Durant, and the Dubs. Coach Popovich will have his hands full!
Key Points
1. No Parker
Four-time NBA champion Tony Parker will definitely be out for the rest of the Playoffs. After playing splendidly throughout the 1st and 2nd round, the Spurs will miss their starting play-maker and veteran. Parker brings experience and dynamics on the court. The team will have to rely on Patty Mills to pick up the slack, and he has been doing it very well so far.
